By mei, on September 27th, 2007 I come across a daily devotional reading where it recommends having a mission statement for a family. I, who at the point of reading was a little loss as to how to spend the evening wisely, jumped at this suggestion.
I decided and coerced my family that we will have to brainstorm and decide on our mission statement which thereafter shall be the authoritative document to hold each other accountable of any actions contrary to the mission.
With no ardent fan for this session, I wrote my own as follow:
1. To draw near to God (and reinforcing each other to do so)
2. To be the church for our family (i.e. loving and supportive)
3. To spread the gospel (i.e. love and witness, though for now, my most comfortable medium is through this blog)
This, by the way, is after giving it thought for 2 nights and then, I see that it is the same commandment that Jesus gave i.e. love God and love your neighbor (Matthew 22:37-39). I think it is good to have a mission statement even for individual, at least for me, I can have so many thoughts in a day not entirely loving that putting a mission statement down in slightly more tangible terms will at least nudge an improvement in me.
By mei, on September 17th, 2007 A calling without a Caller is futile.
That may be just my problem.
Always in search of one source that consumes my everything, supposedly that should be God BUT
Always wondering, dabbling then doubtful as to what my passion is.
Afraid that 30 years later, with or without children, I will still be in the same state of search, doubt and lostness.
Then I decided on a last resort, I have to first seek the Caller. For what my friend said is right – you can’t have a calling if you don’t know the Caller. So here I am, willing myself to a 30 minute bible study and prayer time per day because there just doesn’t seem anyway getting around it.
By mei, on July 6th, 2007 I come across this and like to bring this to the attention of everyone.. esp. people who are bringing some original content to their blog and who are joining some blog community site.

By mei, on July 6th, 2007 Hi to everyone reading this blog, I’m opening up the offer to do a cartoon portrait for you for those who are shy about putting their own picture online and like a cartoon version.
You can check out these 2 links for the little that I’ve done
1st sample
Myself
For now, I only know how to do 2 types:
1 is using pen to draw

2 is using adobe illustrator

The first type will be much faster because I’m still very new to adobe illustrator and will take quite some time to do one up. Like, I took 2 days to do up my own.
You can feel free to request, I’m not charging because I take it as a giving to blog community and also as a practice for me. First come first serve, need to send me a clear picture of yourself.
If you like what I draw, then simply credit to me by linking back to CluelessClay either thru blogroll, blog entry post, picture link or cluelessclay.com beside the picture whichever is applicable for your site and purpose of use.
I may post a paypal link in future for a tip if and only if it starts to consume all my time on earth!
you can email me at cluelessclay@gmail.com
By mei, on July 5th, 2007 This is a little bit of research that I did back in March 2006 (yes, in 2006). I was trying to figure out which topics to focus on then and just to get a feel of the competition and the monetization potential. I can’t do something like that conveniently now cos many of the tools like overture and digital point have been blocked in China (yes again, that’s where I’m living now).

I’m a systematic person, so here’s the steps that I took:
a) List the keywords
b) Find out how many people search the keywords per day; this is using Digital Point keyword suggestion. From there, you get a feel of how many people are interested in the topic.
c) Check out the amount of competition, that’s where I record the “No. of Pages”. So for instance, you can see that many more people searches “Learn Chinese” as opposed to “Learn Mandarin” but there are also more webpages (110m vs 5m)!
d) To know whether the competition is strong, you can check out the page rank of the top site. You can download various free pagerank tools and see if your top competition site is very strong in your selected keywords. The lower the score the easier for you to overtake.
e) Then if you are interested in earning advertising money, you can check out the Google Adsense Sandbox Tool and see if the topic you selected will have advertisers willing to pay more $ for as well as the list of current advertisements. I also came up with my own weighting system for the advertisement by giving less weight to a lower $ advertisement.
f) Finally, I prioritise the keywords and as you can see, learning Chinese has higher advertising income potential but I did not go into that area cos it’s not my passion. And I was doing this research then just to see where my blog topic stands.. I doubt the theme of CluelessClay is ideal for making money but well, I don’t need the money, just people to read and understand Jesus better, support each other and if there’s one way I’m interested in earning money, it’s to be able to sell my cartoons someday.. God Bless!
p.s. Jesus said before it’s more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35)
By mei, on July 4th, 2007 Here’s the brief past timeline of CluelessClay and I’m doing this to remind myself of why I started this blog in the first place.. as every blogger will know, the start of a blog is difficult, much more for one who has to draw cartoons, tell bible stories, do church ministry and tell the world about Christ! Phew! it’s a relief letting that out..
