Today is my second time being the storyteller in the cantonese storytelling ministry to elderly. I was to give an overview of Judges and I had rehearsed twice to make sure that my storytelling would last 15 minutes (the designated time). BUT…it only lasted 6 minutes! I had a shock when I looked at my watch, it was like ‘What! Only 6 minutes!’
I must have told the overview too quickly and it was anti-climax at the end. I made up a story of a naughty boy who did not study, copied during exam, got caught and repented as an analogy of how the Israelites were during the 325 years (of Judges). I finished telling that story, related to Judges and still it was only 6 minutes!It was pretty anti-climax as I fumbled. Well.. next week is my turn again and I can try to tell the story slower, repeat a few more times the key points and hopefully, noone will fall asleep (or decide not to come for the next session).
