Dilemma writing and telling Bible Stories

I have deliberated on these dilemmas for some time and if you have any view and advice, please feel free to let me know. As I mentioned earlier, I am just 2 years into my Christian walk and may not be making the right decision though I have prayed about them.

Dilemma 1

Is it storytelling?

The bible is no story. It is a non-fiction book unlike the Da Vinci code and it may be misleading to refer the ministry as storytelling. However, ‘storytelling’ does capture the gist of the session/ bible story which is telling the bible in an animated and simple manner.

So, I decided to continue using the term ‘storytelling’.

Dilemma 2

In Deuteronomy 4:2, it is stated “Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you”. When I add my own conversation, or use my own words to relate the bible, am I guilty of this? There is no clear solution and I decided that I just have to be prayerful before determining the words to use in the storytelling session/ bible story.

Dilemma 3

Should I earn an income from writing bible stories? I considered that given that authors of children’s bible stories are earning an income and that I hope to do this full-time some day, I have to charge for them. I will have to pray on the amount to charge and welcome feedback.

I believe more dilemmas will come as I get down to writing the bible stories
