Karen Webb - Body Basics for Life

Enough of romance novels. I started with this really thin fitness book which also means that it is a fast read and light to carry. My guy friends who sometimes carry my bag always complain that I carry a 10-kg stone wherever I go. This is partly because I always have books in my bag.

This book provides a timely reminder to watch body posture. For instance, NOT to carry too heavy a bag otherwise the spine will tend to be lop-sided (Most girls, unlike me, do not have this problem).

It is also good to position the monitor screen at eye level and keep the elbows bent at 90o. Unlike in 1953 (when the book was written), desktops are not as common and it is quite difficult to achieve the recommended position with laptops.

One final tip is to exercise before you eat. I guess this ensure you do not procrastinate too late into the night and the metabolic rate after exercising stays high so the dinner will still be burned.

Just took me 20 minutes for some timely reminders.
