This is the second book by Louise Bagshawe that I’m reading and it did not excite me as much as the first one. Probably because it is the same tried and tested formula or because I do not identify with the heroine.
The gal is Alex Wilde; 27, Oxford graduate with arts degree, no make up and not paranoid about weight control. The plot is similar to the first book, mainly unconventional yet down-and-out girl turning 30 who has amazing talent and good looks (but incredibly she’s unaware). She has a great guy friend who has always like her yet seem to fancy someone else. She needs a job, gets one and falls for the wrong guy, i.e. her boss.
Sorry if I have revealed too much of the plot and for now, I am not planning to read another of Bagshawe’s book to find out if they are all largely the same. The saving grace is that the book is very readable and I wanted to get to the end of the book for the feel-good factor.
