Louise Bagshawe – Tuesday’s Child

This is the kind of book that I pick up for easy reading and feel-good romance. Tuesday’s child is about this gal, Lucy Evans. She’s not the really-like-man sort of gal, just an energetic and athletic gal who doesn’t wear skirt, stockings nor make-up.

This character is one I instantly take a liking to, especially when she identifies with Winnie the Pooh characters like my favorite Eeyore.

She also has a great job (reviewing computer games) and a really nice guy for a flatmate (Ollie McCleod), except he is marrying a polished, so put-it-together Annoying Victoria.

One day, Lucy found herself jobless, homeless, alone and broke. And, she does a make-over and beat all the other girls in the looks department. The unexpected is she attracted her new, loaded, young, handsome, aspiring politician boss.

This may sound like the most cliché of romance novel but wait.. it is definitely not trashy. No, in fact, it’s just what I needed. A timely reminder that we are all where we are, going through the ‘situation’ we are in for a reason. Something divinely planned. So, don’t sweat, worry, frown or be anxious. Tomorrow will take care of itself.

Just sneak peaks into Tuesday’s Child – the parts I feel most connected with (and without giving the story away):

Supportive Dad – Really speak to my heart cos isn’t my daddy as equally supportive? And of course, I wish he’d be the kind of dad who demolishes my ex instead of me. Well, no dad is perfect but hey, I’ve got a really fun and great one!

Rescue the girls – Just so many girls have lost it! Lost the exercise, lost the food (hey, not all fats are bad ok and I recently found out why I like Long John Silver’s fries so much cos it’s got high trans fats!), lost the freedom of being who they are. And thank God, I have not yielded to being one of those girls, I’m still one of the tough cookie hanging on to being just myself (i.e. no makeup, no skirt, no squeaky voice) !!!

Dancing with loud music – That’s me! And the good (or bad?) thing is I’m encouraging my niece to prance around and jump on the bed with italiano musico!

Loving your work – I’m all for it! So many people have lost the joy of their life, thus looking zombie all the time. Don’t believe it? Just take a look in the metro, malls… or, in the mirror. It’s all because we spend more than half of our life working, pretending to work and if it’s not going to be fun but just for the money, man…

A great read that you can’t put down cos you just want to know what will happen to Lucy. Finished reading in 2 nights and why not one day instead? Cos I’ve got a desk job.
